Get ready to catch your jaw. It’s certainly going drop when you read this nasty piece written by Eric Boehlert of the well funded, left wing hit machine Media Matters for America.
The title of the piece, in and of itself, is hateful and loaded with false accusation. But the content of the post is even more frightening.
The Last Time Right-Wing Hatred Ran Wild Like This a President Was Killed
I’ve been thinking a lot of Kennedy and Dallas as I’ve watched the increasingly violent rhetorical attacks on Obama be unfurled. As Americans yank their kids of class in order to save them from being exposed to the President of the United States who only wanted to urge them to excel in the classroom. And as unvarnished hate and name-calling passed for health care ‘debate’ this summer.
The radical right, aided by a GOP Noise Machine that positively dwarfs what existed in 1963, has turned demonizing Obama–making him into a vile object of disgust–into a crusade. It’s a demented national jihad, the likes of which this country has not seen in modern times.
I’ve been a part of the American Liberty Tour for about a month now. Our most recent stop was in Tallahassee, where a room full of liberty loving patriots quietly and peacefully discussed ways to get involved in the political process. These people were tea party organizers, 9/12 participants, members of the American Liberty Alliance, and just good old fashioned Americans.
There was no talk of violence. Obama’s name was hardly even mentioned.
This has been the case for the entire tour. People are upset, yes, but they aren’t violent. They aren’t making threats and they certainly have no plans to do so.
It’s interesting to note that Eric Boehlert took a pass on reporting the actual hatred and violence on the left during the Bush years. Anti-Bush protesters would burn effigies of the President and call for his end. In many cases, the American flag was burned and stomped on.
Those who opposed the mindset behind these protest were spat upon, called filthy names and even threatened.
Where was Eric Boehlert during those events? Apparently, Media Matters believes that a group of Americans who meet peacefully to discuss their new distrust of government suggests an evil national jihad is being formed.
The Tea Party Movement represents the true original nature of the American way. This movement represents everything our founding fathers believed in.
But according to Eric Boehlert, the movement is a demented form of jihad.
I wonder if he wishes the Tea Party Movement back in 1773 never happened?

We need to formulate a strategy to deal with this tactic. Accusations of racism (now homophobia), scare mongering and inciting violance and hatred are powerful tools to shut up the opposition, as long the opposition cares. Given time and repeated often enough it becomes empty rhetoric. It is however part of a scorched earth tactic that is highly irresponsible and not a little dangerous. How do you deal with lunatics that continuously shouting Fire! in an over crowded place?
Alternatively they may be building up a case towards a “manufactured crisis” or just in case something does happen and they can say I told you so.
We need to become smarter and more pro active. To date it’s all very predictable.
Why get upset when an out-of-touch doucebag spews fecal matter from his lips? Instead of giving him a platform, relegate him to the corner like the petulant little child he is.
Eric…this is from Media Matters and must be confronted head-on. Media does Matter and the name of the organization is not accidental. Call Rush Limbaugh from your RV and get him to interview you about this column on his show..today. You’ve got the spotlight…grab the microphone.

This is classic Alinsky methodology for marginalizing those who oppose you. The majority of Americans know this for what it is. For those that do not understand, educate them. We need all Americans to stand up for our liberty. We do not need this type of verbal poison.
They are simply following their playbook, Rules for Radicals. Ridicule is their greatest weapon. However, people who make comments like these are fringe and mostly should be ignored unless they have made factual errors and can be corrected. When they state opinion, it is difficult to argue with any reasonable expectation of positive outcome. The best way that we can beat them is to remain vigilant and true to our values. By being the peaceful and respectful citizens that we truly are, we will win more friends and converts than by rolling around in the mud with such low lifes as Eric.
If he insites violence then he makes the proud claim of “I told you so”. The hate filled people like him have no chance to defeat our righteous movement.

Ever since we started campaigning to support our Constitution and have current laws on the books enforced or changed, we have been called “racists” – (one of the printable terms we are called). We have a consistent response: “Thank you for showing your level of intelligence.” No argument, no discussion. You cannot reason with idiots.
We need to maintain the current process of “disorganized resistance” because that is one thing Saul did not prepare the “community organizers” for.

@Eric – A year ago I would have not even bothered giving this article attention. But I believe that people’s general belief is that if one side doesn’t respond to allegations, then they are held as guilty. Politics in America has become an emotional battle and this tactic has to end. We must return to genuine civil intellectual debate.
The strength of a Republic is not in civil dominance, rather in civil understanding.

The fact that Lee Harvey Oswald was a communist apparently doesn’t phase the Left’s fact checkers [sic]. Of course, the Left has been successfully demonizing conservatives for the past century, so this is nothing new, as Jonah Goldberg has documented so well in “Liberal Fascism.” It’s a dilemma… dignify their screeds with a response, so help keep this in the public eye, or ignore them in hopes it will fade, risking that the lie does become perceived as truth. Wow. Just . . . wow. I guess the good thing about an article like that is that it proves the beauty of our country. We’re free to say what we like, right or wrong. Even better, we’re free to voice our opinion and retort. Thankfully, it sounds as if our biggest article will be written the day after we peacefully boot all these misguided “representatives” from office.
Just when I think they can’t get any crazier . . . viola . . . they keep getting crazier. As my father use to say, “Don’t get into a pissing contest with a skunk.” We need to just keep preaching the truth about what is happening to our country. Most importantly, teach people about the Constitution and it’s true meaning and intent! Dr.King’s method of resistance to hate and prejudice was to turn the other cheek. Finally, the American public woke up to the realization that this hatred must stop and things changed. The United States had to endure the Carter years before we got President Reagan. We have the power of the vote! Take heart we are turning the tide. We must educate one person/family at a time.
I agree with those who say to stand our ground and don’t let them draw you into to defending yourself. They are the ones whose actions are indefensible. When faced with comments about behavior, ask them how many arrest were made, how many windows broken, how many tire fires they know of at the TEA Parties and the 9-12 Rally (make certain to identify the ill behavior of the counter protesters). On the issue of of what gives us the right (blah blah blah) we need to bring up the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution as our foundation for government – all they have are feelings. Don’t let them start with a premise based on false assumptions and lies – ask for their source. Give people a chance to discuss the issues, but cut them off if they get into name calling – it throws them off their game to deal with just the facts.
But not a word about how they are beating people up, biting off fingers, and even shooting protesters dead… nope not a word.
The left has already committed jihad against America.

The old saying about, “All it takes for evil to succeed, is for good men to do/say nothing,” still holds true.
However, it is also true that one cannot reason with an idiot. Evert’s suggestion of, “Thank you for showing your level of intelligence,” is very good for the idiots. Shuts them right up, and saves our energy for where it’s really needed.
The others are the tricky ones. We have to decide where they really stand. The smart, dyed in the wool lefties can only find out for themselves. It’s the moderates we have to help to see truth. For that, we must deal in irrefutable facts. That means that we have to work to be prepared. That means that we can no longer sit on our righteous laurels and let things coast.
What is really dangerous about the retoric which Palosi and Boehlert are indulging in is that they are very deliberately setting a stage for martial law, under the accusation that we are dangerous. I think that it is past time for some defamation law suits. If we remain silent, we walk into the trap that they are so carefully setting. They will manufacture the violence and then blame it on us. We should expect to see it by next Fall, at the latest.
Let us not worry about these idiots because they want to be responded to. The TEA party movement is BIGGER then the right. The movement has D’s and I’s and the elderly. WE have 56% of public against this huge spending in DC and nothing anyone says is going to change that. Those numbers didn’t happen with the help of the media they happened DESPITE the media. WE will be growing in strength and numbers and 2010 will be a BLOWOUT. I am unequivocally devoted to the bedrock principles of the Founding Fathers, the American Liberty Alliance and the Tea Party movement. As regards the absurd post at the center of this discussion, I’ve studied the assassination of John F. Kennedy since 1966, and Eric Boehlert is right in seeing historical parallels, but absolutely wrong when it comes to what motivated Kennedy’s assassination or what today would motivate an attempt on Obama’s life—God forbid. In neither case was or is popular political disenchantment of the times the catalyst of assassination. To blame us for creating an “assassination atmosphere” is patently spurious. We are not the architects of such sentiments today. The Nancy Pelosis, the Harry Reids, and others such as Grayson are creating the acrid environment. To set the record straight, Kennedy made policy decisions and controversial statements at moments of unguarded anger that caused his demise. In no way were the people of this country, regardless of how they felt about him or his policies, the driving force behind his assassination. Simply stated, he scared and angered a great many very powerfuil people. He bucked the Joint Chiefs of Staff, especially General Curtis Lemay of the Air Force, he tried to control the price of steel, and he threatened to “smash the CIA into a thousand pieces” when re-elected. In addition, Bobby Kennedy, JFK’s attorney general, went after the Mafia with a vengeance. As a result of all of this, a cabal of very powerful men in industry, government and the Mob formed because their personal interests were on the cusp of an abyss, and JFK’s murder was one of necessary expedience. Obama is walking the exact same path as did JFK. Both Kennedy and Obama challenged very powerful people who together put an end to JFK’s life and could go after Obama. But Boehlert’s thesis is fatally flawed when he psoits that our objections will result in Obama’ demise. No, it was not a raucous Main Street political atmosphere that cost Kennedy his life. It was his naive belief that he had the power to make things happen regardless of the consequences and that his power would protect him. There may well be forces at work right now that may be planning the unthinkable. I know of none, nor do I know of any member of the Tea Party movement who would consider such a hideous answer to ending Obama’s Socialist agenda. Planning, if it exists, draws its power not from our objections about Obama. It is being planned by the same kind of secret cabal that took Kennedy’s life, and in no way are we, true patriots, culpable in any attempt on the president’s life. If Obama is struck down, it will be at the hands of the very powerful who care only about their own self interests, not the noble people who have chosen to join this patriotic movement. Eric Boehlert is the quintessential troll who deserves nothing more than to be completely ignored.
