Fellow Patriots,
Yesterday I sent out an email about our “final push,” and was immediately hit with hundreds of encouraging replies.
It was a strong reminder that our movement is actually far more unified than most of us know or realize.
And it got me thinking… where did the American Liberty Alliance come from and where is it going?
Many of you have been with us since we began in 2008 during the energy fight. Back then we were called the “DontGo Movement,” and most politicos credit that movement as a key factor in the “Drill Here, Drill Now” campaign that broke out last year.
In fact, many “strategists” believe that what we did last year is what set in motion an online movement that would snowball enough to eventually help spark the 2009 Tea Party efforts.
There is no doubt that we’ve all been through a lot and our core membership should be credited with helping kick off a movement that has caught out-of-control government flat footed.
But, as much as I hate to admit… I think we veered a little off track as an organization. I’m not saying this has been bad for us. Quite the opposite, in fact.
I think these past few months have been very telling for us. We learned who to trust, and who to avoid. We learned what works, and what overwhelmed the resources to the point that we’re forced to temporarily shut down.
And most importantly, we learned how easy it is to veer off course if you’re not careful.
So where do we go from here?
I believe we need to get back to our core objective. It reads like this:
“The American Liberty Alliance was started to fill a void among liberty minded organizations. Somewhere between large national organizations and local activists, there was a gap. Groups seemed too focused on folding activists into their own efforts and not supporting the causes and efforts of the activists themselves. American Liberty Alliance began with that focus in mind – making the local activist a priority and building opportunities and interaction around them.
The type of online infrastructure and community we’re building is going to be very important over the next four years. ALA offers something that no one else does, and that’s the willingness to put personalities aside, listen to our members, and focus on the issues important to them. We’re going to engage on a very local level. We’re also going to build the infrastructure so that we can respond very quickly to emerging issues and situations.”
In 2010, the American Liberty Alliance is going to completely re-structure and work for you… the real rock stars of this movement.
This movement is not about building big organizations, racing for attention or trying to push out other efforts. This movement is about liberty.
And I believe we as Americans have a duty to protect our liberty. I believe the American Liberty Alliance needs to exist solely as a vessel that helps carry that message for the tens of thousands of liberty loving activists within the movement.
I know times have been a little wild this year. And times are likely to get a little wilder going into 2010.
The American Liberty Alliance is honored to have you as members. And we’re honored to stand alongside each of you in this fight.

I hope you can get the message out to whomever needs to hear it: We have an election coming up in 2010 and we absolutely must stay together and win wherever we can. We cannot afford to fracture as a movement at this time or go off into third and fourth parties so that we hand victory back to the dems who, as it stands now, are facing monumental defeat. We need to get the word out that, as a matter of policy, we will support only solid Republican candidates whose conservative principles are intact on the national level unless there are indications that an independent or a third party candidate can absolutely win. We definitely do not want to be in a position of splitting votes and putting Democrats back into office. If we do not knock them off in 2010, America may be finished. We need to all take time to work out a strategy, to be disciplined and forward thinking, and to make sure we find the pathway to victory with solid conservative candidates. Nothing else will do.

I DO believe that our movement is strong, and as things seem to get progressively worse in this country, I believe that there are a LOT more people out there that will be willing to stand up and fight for their freedom. I appreciate your efforts immensely and hope that we can emerge strong, possibly as ONE unit rather than several splintered groups. One voice, one goal, one strong nation…..
Eric, we need to create a structure of local chapters to stabilize the image. Many of the local movements lack experienced leadership and, so, are lacking direction. We have learned the press ignores our large rallies and the politicians seem to ignore our cards and letters. However, they do not seem to ignore “lobbyists” so we need to move one step forward with a new, unified name and continue hitting where it hurts – at the ballot box.
We need to use organizations such as American Majority to train people about activism and we need to develop a network of “community” activist leadership to develop the skills at the local level. We need to stick to some basic issues – energy, health care, employment, education – and increase our efforts at the local and state level. We need to build concern among rank and file members of both the Republican and Democratic so they can be more effective for the “will of the people”.

I started following you on Twitter shortly after I joined. I didn’t know who you were, I was just so happy to find someone else amid all the adoration who had doubts about the direction Obama and the Dem’s were taking us in.
I’m ashamed to say that I didn’t pay attention before; I was too worried about more superficial matters. That’s changed now though, and I feel awesome being able to tell people “you aren’t alone.” I had the pleasure of attending the joint training session held by ALA/American Majority here in Kansas City and it was incredible! I’m very proud to say I’m a member of ALA. Even after attending the Tax Day Tea Party, I was worried about America’s future because well, what’s next? We decided to turn our tea party volunteers into an organization to effect local change and now this housewife from the midwest sits on the Board. Wow!
Our network of informed patriots is growing and I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It is not to our advantage to wait until Nov 2010.
We need to work together. Good fences make good neighbors. It’s a matter of getting the checks and balances right.
Virginia has law that can do the job. Now we need a court system that can do the job.
Come January the Court system of Virginia CAN BE REPOSSESSED from those whose customary conceit to felony made our laws like they were no – The VA Court Officers are in open insurrection and our new Republican governor has great advantage in obeying our Constitution that requires that he suppress the insurrection and enforce the laws.
Say, the mass of people behind this ResistNet – OBOGO drive focus their demands into the hands of our new Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. The power of your intentions can be sufficient to help him see that is duty and his opportunity are the same.
Governor Bob McDonnell appears predisposed to that outcome.
Then come February 2010 we have both a court system and laws that are sufficient to disembowel the Dem party leadership and second tier of leaders before the next election. BTW, It will take down the big O too as O will be an accessory-before-the-fact to a convicted felon.
It is a target rich situation in which we have as many tries to stick a conviction as we need. O will not be able to hide behind any one dismissed charge (by constitutional prohibition of double jeopardy) because there so many counts of felony to nail.
But I need your help as a proof reader now.
The writing is difficult for me – if there is any spot that is written ugly and hard to follow it needs to be fixed.

After we encourage Governor Bob McDonnell to see that his duty and opportunity ar the same we begin with VFOIA requests to shift the burden of proof and civil suit to gain conclusive admissions for the criminal conviction before indictment.
The active mass of conservative Constitution-loving citizens can put the Democratic party under seige now. Use Virginia law and courts to make thier walls collapse. The Dems will essentially surrender the 2010 election so the contest will be between the Republicans and thier loyal opposition conservatives who really just want to see that the republicans get it right. No ‘opposition’ party is prepared to rule. I don’t even think they want to. We just want our Constitution and duly authorized laws back. We want the Repblicans to do thier duty and we don’t want to be scammed. The Republicans should see that every party member and candidate is under toothy oath – then we can trust them – It is like getting married – we just want to be respected in the morning.

I think that the people in Washington are finally starting to listen to the people, thanks to organizations like this. And, hopefully there will be people on all sides of the issues that can come together with groups like this. I may not agree or be concerned with every issue but I think that having our voices heard is what is most important. Some organizations seem to feel that the leaders opinions were the only opinions that mattered and forgot about the membership.

Eric, thank you for taking an unusual but intelligent direction. It is what we do at every level of government that will eventually turn this ship around. We need to get involved in the Republican Party and transform it to the party of the people. I worked to get Chris Christee elected in NJ and have met a lot of Republicans in the trenches-many are just like us and clearly know the stakes are high. This can and must be done!

Thank you ALA! I would like to put my effort into getting rid of entrenched incumbents that do not put the Republic first. I do not want to see Maryland go the way of California. We need more candidates like Ron Paul.
I’m with Gene Hill. In addition, if there’s a gap to fill, it seems to be that we have a lot of patriots going a lot of different (sort of) ways and I wonder if our impact could be greater if the “gap” were to be filled by a “coordinator” of sorts that ties all the strings together to make our efforts coordinated. Maybe a website that would list all the conservative candidates in all primaries and would verify their conservative values. We do not want to be infiltrated by RINOs. For example, getting everyone on board (SGP, FreedomWorks, Tea Party Nation, etc., to help out in the New York race to help the likes of Hoffman. SmartGirlPolitics may have some good conservative candidates willing to run, but the folks at FreedomWorks may never know that. I just worry that we have a lot of momentum going a bunch of different directions and could accomplish more if we were more coordinated.

This is a great idea and I appreciate all the work you are doing for the cause, of liberty, freedom and restoration of our God given rights and authority as “We The People” ‘lent’ ’some’ of our authority to the Federal Government to handle only the eighteen enumerated items in Article 1, Section 8 of The Constitution as further supported in law in the 9th and 10th Amendments in The Bill of Rights. All projects, bureaucracies and spending for them, beyond that enumerated, is against the law that We The People wrote, established and ordained on our Government as documented in The Constitution and, therefore, literally amounts to utter usurpation by pure definition.

Eric, I have been following you and your organization for quite some time now and am proud to be associated with this cause for advancing liberty. I think the most frustrating part of being (newly) politically aware is the realization that our supposed representatives do not listen to us and seem hell-bent on destroying our country. I attended a tax day tea party and was inspired to find so many others who feel the same way very deeply. I am ready to move beyond attending rallies and get involved and hopefully will find others in my area that are willing to take steps to take back our country. I think we will have to work to find viable candidates to run under the Republican banner…we do not want to fracture the votes and end up with the same thing we have today. We CAN do it if we work together! Keep up the great work!
What a Blessing to have so many people who care about America. If we believed the media in this country, one would think all were on board with the Obama Administration, and we “know” this is far from reality. Simple as I am, why can’t we, as American’s, file law suits against our goverment ? In a company I would be fired for this type of behavior. Is it really that difficult to get these people out of office ? I’m so surprised no one has started a movement to impeach Obama. After all he’s misusing the office of President. Actually most of the people in office are not working in the best interest of the people…God Help Us All !
I am so very hopeful that we, as Americans, citizens of this great country will establish a group of candidates that will run against either the Democratic or Republican party. And to join together, as a group, to establish the numbers to take away the poll leads from the Democratic party, that now exists if there were elections today. As “tea partiers” we must work together and very hard to establish this goal. We now control the candidate that is running for office, if he/she will be elected. Now we must establish candidates that will run for office that will be on our “side”.

I certainly appreciate what you’re trying to do. We need to take all these splinter groups and form them into a baseball bat that can change this country. If not, we’ll have elections with 45% Democrat, 45% Republican and 1% for ten other groups.
I’d like to see if you can look into the GOOOH movement. http://www.goooh.com. It seems to be right in line with what you’re trying to do, with a goal to replace every member of the House of Representatives in the 2010 election.
The movement appeals to all patriot groups, regardless of the issues they represent. This is because the group is totally non-partisan. Our agenda is not to push one issue or another, but simply four points…
1. to get on the ballot in all 50 states for the 2010 congressional elections.
2. to select candidates who represent their own districts, chosen by their peers through an open discussion process.
3. to have candidates who are free of special interest money and party politics so they can represent their constituents. Candidates answer a series of position questions and pledge to vote they way they’ve promised.
4. candidates pledge to serve for 2 or 4 years only, and then go home to live under the laws they’ve passed.
This is a perfect to unite all patriots across the country. If you care enough to organize, and you have an issue that’s important to you, you bring 100 of your friends to the selection meeting in your district. Each of you goes through the selection process. You may end up as a candidate yourself. If not, your group will certainly have a major impact on the candidate who IS selected.
And don’t you agree that the guy who owns the grocery store down the street would be a better representative than a professional politician who owes his allegience to special interests and political parties?

There is a great need to get the word out on the street. To share the truths, of our GOD given freedoms and rights as free men and women, the truths of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Their are so many that think they are a lone in they believe, they need to they are not. there are those who just don’t know. If you are going to organize we have to reach the people and provide leadership and a plain of action.

I don’t think that we can wait four years or until 2012 to get Obama and his little Zars out of office. There must be something that they are doing that is in violation of some existing law. I look to impeach him and his gang before 2012. What does everyone think?

The Tea Party Movement is so important to give us hope, organize and stay engaged. I’m in it for the long haul.

Hurricane Obama will pass, what we do now will make the difference in the amount of damage he can do. I agree with many of the comments about not waiting for 11/10 nor remaining “splinter” groups. As I live close to D.C. I have been able to rally 9/12, 11/05, and 12/15. Mostly organized by Americans for Prosperity, resistnet, taxpayersunited, and grass roots, all of which are planning a big march on D.C. 04/15/10. We have KTM (kitchen table meetings) in local neighborhoods. The movement is swelling beyond belief! People who, only five months ago, had their heads in the sand (locally, in eastern Carolina, there is much) have become new activists. First by attending local town hall meetings, alderman and city council meetings and voting down, by shear numbers, the local “good-ole-boys” that have run the county, districts, and state. In our city alone, we replaced a 16 yr. mayor and 10 of 16 alderman. The “long-term”, “career” politicians, even the sheriff!, are being replaced. Wake County Nev. totally replaced their county government! It is happening in my old county in Ga. Our children are voting that never took time to care. As one “TEAbagger” said; “you have awakened a sleeping giant”. And united, we are a giant. WE THE PEOPLE should not take it anymore! The “media” wants to ignore us but the local politicians will begin to realize we are NOT going away! Especially when we take back our cities one by one. It has to be from “local” to “Washington”. It took 12 yrs. for the enemy to plan the “Towers” distruction. We don’t have that much time but we do have more people. So, start letting the “local government” know you EACH are unhappy with the way things are going in your own home town. AND plan on being in D.C. April 15, 2010! Make arrangements now if possible.

destroyer of PEACE today is ABORTION, because it is a direct killing of the
innocent child-murder by the mother herself and if we accept that a mother
can kill even her own child, how can we not kill one another. We can help
her with LOVE. There is no concience in Congress! We and the Church need

Thanks for all your help. You are doing a great work. I agree with you that it would be easy to get off track chasing every liberal socialistic idea that reaises its ugly head. I really believe the answer is found in our blessed Constitution. We must develop a system for commiting and tracking our elected officials with regard to thier loyalty to the Constitution in the tradition of the founding fathers. If we can stay focused on getting such people in office all the rest of these problems will vanish away. We must provide a way for the voter to know the truth about a candidate without having to rely on what they say. I would be willing to work for that.
