July 29, 2009 Newsletter

Fellow Patriots,

Corrine here. Just wanted to give you an update on all the exciting things that are going on at the American Liberty Alliance (ALA).

Who We Are
The ALA is first and foremost an organization that is focused on promoting other people. It doesn’t exist to be in the spotlight, but rather to help create the spotlight and put other people in it. So for the local activists, ALA provides a national network of other activists as well as the infrastructure to bring national attention to your local issue, not the other way around.
The ALA has grown out of other successful grassroots movements. ALA’s founders were an integral part of the #DontGo movement in August 2008 that forced Congress to address bans on offshore drilling. In the Spring of 2009, many of ALA’s founders were leaders in the Tax Day Tea Parties across the country. Having founders from these movements, and others, the American Liberty Alliance’s roots are most definitely grassroots.

Healthcare Recess Rally
On July 28, 2009, the American Liberty Alliance (ALA), one of the key organizations behind the Tax Day Tea Parties, launched ReccessRally.com to organize patriots across the country to fight the passage of nationalized healthcare in every Congressional District during the August Recess.

President Obama, Senate Leader Reid, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi have promised to pass and implement a massive new healthcare entitlement program. The ALA in collaboration with Red State, the American Majority, Smart Girl Politics, Freedom Works and many others, will hold a national protest against socialized medicine. At noon local time on August 22nd in over 500 congressional district offices across the country, there will be a Recess Rally held to battle the new costly healthcare program, and voice their opposition to their Members of Congress.

“Now is the time for all good Tea Party activists to get out on the streets and tell Washington to get its grubby hands off healthcare,” said Michelle Malkin, blogger and author of Culture of Corruption. “The socialized Medicine brigade is on the run. They’re hoping the August Recess will take the steam out of the counterinsurgency, but they are wrong. We will not let up. We are going to get out to a Recess Rally near us on August 22nd. Its crunch time!”

It is no secret that our President is a fan of socialized medicine and his plan aims to make the Government a larger player in our healthcare and puts federal bureaucrats between patients and their physicians. However, the American public is being shut out of the political process, and it is time to make their opposition known to Members of Congress. This Recess Rally will serve as a wake up call to tell Representatives that nationalizing healthcare is not what this country wants or needs.

For more information or to join the rally in your area, please visit www.RecessRally.com.

The American Liberty Tour
In case you haven’t heard ALA is going on the American Liberty Tour (ALT) in a collaboration with American Majority, and Americans for Limited Government. The ALT crew will be stopping in 17 cities during the month long, cross country tour. Each stop will provide an opportunity for candidate training, blogger breakfast meetings, activists training and large scale Liberty Rallies. Join “Joe the Plumber”, Lloyd Marcus (Writter of the Tea Party Song), Ned Ryun (American Majority), Eric Odom (TaxDayTeaParty.com), Ken Marrero (American Liberty Alliance), Adam Bitely (NetRight Nation) and many others at an American Liberty Tour stop near you! We are still looking for volunteers so please contact Amy Hagerstrom amy@americanlibertyalliance.com or visit the ALT website for more information.

Membership Tele-Townhall
July 27th’s Tele-TownHall with activists from across the nation was a hit with all who attended. Our bi-weekly Tele-TownHall with our member activists on the 27th addressed the upcoming plans for ALA’s Recess Rally.  Members got the word about the event before anyone else since press releases and publicity weren’t scheduled to begin for another 48 hours.  After explaining what Recess Rally is and what it is designed to do, we took specific questions from activists that applied to their local situations.  The next Tele-TownHall will be on Monday night, August 10th at 9PM Eastern/6PM Pacific.  Likely topics for the call will be the progress on the Recess Rally. The call-in number is (724) 444-7444 and you will prompted to enter a caller identification number which is 54447. The ALA team will speak for about 30 minutes and then open up for member discussion.
Website

On July 14, 2009 the ALA launched its new website. ALA is focused on promoting free market ideals and enabling individuals to collaborate with other like-minded people –this new website will do exactly that. Through our site, ALA will provide the type of online infrastructure and community building that is going to be very important over the next four years. We encourage you to visit our new site and let us know what you think!

Blogs
In conjunction with our new website, ALA has several blogs that are constantly updated with important information. Here are some of the activity highlights from the past week.
TaxDayTeaParty.com: This blog site continues to have updates about upcoming events. For example, as a part of the ALA’s aggressive marketing campaign and national tour, we have decided to have a contest that offers a FREE trip for two to Nashville, Tennessee this September! Check out the Blog to find out more;
HealthcareHorseRace.com: Amongst other healthcare news, this site discussed Douglas Elmendorf, director of the Congressional Budget Office, bursting the White House’s bubble, noting that Obamacare would only save $2 billion over ten years, or $200 million per year. Placing the supposed ‘savings’ directly against the legislation’s $1 trillion price tag made it quite a pittance indeed; and
TheUnionLabelBlog.com: Amongst other interesting news, a new article on the decline of Unions over the last 50 years.

I am looking forward to hearing from all of you!

For Liberty!
